As with anything, when heard in a larger context, it becomes so much more larger than life, so to speak. The same is true with art, take a small painting and enlarge it to 8 feet x 10 feet and it totally blows you away.

I read about this piece in the great book by Alex Ross called "The Rest Is Noise". This is great! This awesome noise concept / composition was happening in 1922...wow!

This is so cool not only because of the compositional aspect but because this exposes "the person walking down the street" to something completely out of their experience (or most people). Everyone needs to "stretch" from time to time! Right on!

Actually, I just scrolled down the page so I didn't have to watch the video and just listened man...it is totally awesome! It's a fact that if you close your eyes while listening to something, your hearing increases by 15%.

My answer to the question posed in this video: It is never easy to break from the past, however there will come a time when the past will have no relevance and will gently fade away. Slowly but surely we are heading in this direction.

All of Stockhausen's work is a total sound garden! This piece could be used in so many different ways and places...wow...the possibilities are endless! Thank you Mr. Stockhausen for pointing the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@JSBach90 But your statement implies that there is something inherently negative with random clusters. Yin has meaning just as yang has meaning - they both make up the "whole", they are both important. Conventional tonality operates within a box (a framework)...that's all, nothing more, nothing...

@InternetToughGuyXL I hear ya man, however I respectfully disagree because the "rock guy" was the accent color (so to speak) to the band. The guitarist, (playing with the distorted sound) was coming from a total modern place. Corey and Vic are coming from more of a "traditional" perspective. T...
