Despite his personal tragedies, the love of the music is always very, very obvious. As much as we sometimes try to make believe we can live without it, we can't. Music is the universal language, and Arlen is one of it's finest translators of all.

I remember when we used to play at The Lonestar Cafe in NYC back in the 80s. Everyone else would be downstairs trying to meet babes (the waitresses were quite awesome too), but Larry - he'd be upstairs in the dressing room, practicing. Damn. Larry was born with an instrument in his hands.
