I have been playing guitar for about 4 years now. I never took lessons. I bought a steel-string guitar and beginner video at the local music store. The video taught me the chords, etc., then I started printing out song tabs off the internet and continued to learn that way. About 2 years ago I bought a nylon-string guitar and got into spanish and flamenco music. I found it difficult to find good resources for this kind of music so I had trouble learning it. But I got a hold of Charles Sedlak's "Flamenco Made Easy" dvd from amazon and finally learned what I had been craving to play. I love hitting and slapping the guitar, playing tripletts and rumba patterns, etc.
