About this user
Hi there. I'm Chris Thomas and welcome to my site. Just a few things about me. I received my BA in music performance (jazz guitar) from Duquesne University in 94', studying with Ken Karsh for five years. I've been fortunate to have played with some amazing musicians along the way. Local and national artists such as Modern Times featuring Matt Ferrante (current), the late Randy Purcell, Catch 22, David Budway, Dwayne Dolphin, Roger Humphries, Gene Ludwig, Joe Negri, Charlie Haden, the late Stanley Turrentine and Joe Beck, The Shirelles, Jim Nabors (yes that's right, Gomer Pyle), guest soloist with the Baldwin Sr. High Jazz Band, and performed in an opening act for recording superstars Barry Manillo, Rod Stewart, The Indigo Girls and Chubby Checker. Show performances have included Big River, Fiddler On The Roof, Star Mites (terrible rock show but fun to play on guitar), West Side Story, Little Shop Of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Pajama Game, Anything Goes, and The Wiz. I went back for a Post Baccalaureate Certifcation in music education in 2000 (graduated 12-03). Since being certified I've taught as a sub in the Peters Twp., West Jefferson Hills, and Upper St. Clair School Districts, a long term and permanent sub at Keystone Oaks, Baldwin, and Upper St. Clair, "Super Sub" at West Mifflin and contracted at Ringgold and Elizabeth Forward. That was a total of eight districts in five years! I've now entering my fourth year at Elizabeth Forward. I teach strings grades 3-8. I hope to stay there for a long time. :) In the videos I posted you'll see guitars that I made. Yes that's right. From sapling to sound generating device I made them from scratch. Check out my pics on MySpace of my guitars. Instrument building and repair might be the closest thing I have to a hobby but then again it's still music. In May of 2010 I recieved my Masters from California University of PA in Advanced Studies in Secondary Education. I am married to a very patient wife named Kim. Our kids are Zach (11), Lindsey (5), and Sydney (3).Thanks,
Chris
