These are videos of our gameplay in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV for PC. Because Rockstar included the editor, this is the coolest game ever made in our opinion! These videos would have been flat-out impossible without the amazing talents of sjaak327 and his Simple Native Trainer (just about to go to 6.0 with serious changes for every digit along the way!)
http://www.gtaforums.com/in...

We create our videos using GTAIV's save feature [F2], then open the clips with the in-game editor to do the camerawork. We rarely do any actual video editing in GTAIVE, preferring Vegas 9 for that. Once the video is ready we save and restart the game into the highest settings possible, which is for us 1600x1200 and everything on High/100 save reflection resolution, which goes to Very High. It's only on these settings that rendering in 1080p appears un-greyed.

All editing is done with Sony Vegas 9. Vegas accepts R* WMV just fine, but scrubbing and preview performance is piss-poor, so lately we've taken the extra step of converting to 1080p MPG2 (Format Factory)

We render using Sony's AVC MP4 codec, specifically the setting "Internet 16:9 HD 1080p 30FPS" with bit rate set to around 8,000. The filesize is reasonable (~30mb/min) and rendering time on my quad 2.2 is about 10-1 (~10min/min rendered) When we used WMV we ended up with ~100mb/min filesize and 20-30min/min!

Happy Time! High Five!

PS: We've been uploading most of our videos to the excellent GTAForums GTA IV Theater thread:

"...The most important thing for stunts in general is to know the right spots. Besides the ramps that are already there you can use many different things as a ramp like: Stairs, ledges, curbs, random trash (especially cardboards that are already formed like ramps) and even pedestrians. We almost made a full backflip jumping over a person who fell down in front of the bike! With bike stunts it's also important to lift the front wheel up a bit so your front tire bounces off the object and bumps you into the air. Trying stunts with different speeds is also important because not all bike stunts can be done with full speed, some curbs and stairs make you crash with full speed. For cars, try aiming a bit to the left or right of the ramp so you get a barrel roll spin."
