We are proud of the impact we have already made on girls' lives, yet we reach just 5.6% of the girls in our council area.
With the community's support, we can dramatically accelerate our progress in fostering the leadership potential of girls.
The Campaign for Girls in Arizona will allow us to serve more girls, train more adult volunteers, expand our programs and create a new Leadership Center in south Phoenix. Our comprehensive campaign goal is to raise $15 million in philanthropic support. This will enable GSACPC to significantly expand the experience and enhance the value of Girl Scouting. We plan to:
»» REACH more girls across Arizona, especially in underserved populations and communities, including Latino, tribal and faith-based communities. This includes adding 10,000 girls to our membership, providing the camp experience to every girl who desires it, and offering new and flexible ways for girls to participate in Girl Scouts. Investment: $2.5 million
»» Develop and support new adult volunteers to serve Arizona's girls. This means growing our adult volunteer membership by 4,000 adults to provide a solid support system for the girls. It includes enhancing our training for volunteers, creating new ways for adults to contribute to girl programming, and provide opportunities for volunteers and women in the community to explore their own leadership and community engagement. Investment: $1.25 million
»» Expand leadership opportunities for girls through innovative programs. This will allow us to support and enhance programs in our five key focus areas: Financial Literacy, Healthy Living, Environmental Leadership, Global Citizenship and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Investment: $1.25 million
»» Transform our spaces and facilities to enhance the Girl Scout leadership experience. Camp Sombrero, perched at the base of South Mountain Preserve, is owned by the Council and has served girls over the last 40 years. This 14.5 acre site will be used to create the Leadership Center for Girls and Women. This urban program center, with camp appeal, will provide leadership training for girls and women, give girls their first camping experience close to home and serve the surrounding community groups, partner organizations and schools. The Leadership Center for Girls and Women will be a safe and empowering space offering girls the opportunity to be seen and heard, and create a fundamental belief in themselves and their abilities. The leadership created in this space will, in turn, transform Arizona. Investment: $10 million
