It feels as if I've had many lives...started out as a student of flute, played in a commercial band where I did many styles, sang jazz in clubs fresh out of college as well as a cappella, played flute/piano in various and sundry ensembles of classical or commercial pursuasions--still do, now in pursuit of life-learning as a teacher of youth and as a student of, well, life. Currently pursuing a Masters of Music.
Will go out of my way for a good cup of espresso and sit for 3+ hours to watch a baseball game, not necessarily in tandem. Love the smell of books and honeysuckle.
Past fascination: music of the Balkans and Eastern Europe. Went to Romania in April '07, but didn't get to see Enescu's house. However, I had a blast.
Current fascination: rekindling my love for Sarah Vaughan who influenced my song choices back when I was in college. Currently revisiting analysis of classical style in theory class.
Future fascination: who knows?
I freelanced before, during, and after college before I took a full-time music teaching position. Last 10 years have been playing piano and singing with R&B band on the side. Looking to get back into jazz club work as a vocalist. Oh the irony...I have virtually no experience with media recording of my own, but I enjoy youtube.
