This was Ten Plus' second attempt in the Sun Alliance Hurdle. In 1985 he finished 5th at 66/1. When he was injured in the Gold Cup, I recall Fulke Walwyn in tears.
The Sun Alliance Chase had 30 runners and 9 finishers. All horses were fine. It was the last year with a 30 runner limit for Novices...
