About this user

Gretel Scarlett is a recent 2008 Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) graduate.

Originally from Rockhampton in Central Queensland and after moving to Sydney in 2003, Gretel studied full-time classical ballet, Jazz & Tap as well as extensive studies in Contemporary & Spanish dance. She has also studied Singing, Speech and Drama. Gretel originally pursued a slightly unusual career path in 'Nuclear Medicine', however her love of Music Theatre eventually drew her back to the stage.

Most notably, Gretel played the lead role of Mrs Johnstone in WAAPA'S 2008 production of Blood Brothers, as well as Virginia in Oklahoma, Soprano Ensemble in Sweeney Todd and Teresita in West Side Story.

Gretel was also the Choreographer for both Sweeney Todd and Loving Repeating. She was awarded the prestigious 2008 'Leslie Anderson Award' for the best overall Showcase Performer and the 2008 Hal Leonard Award for Overall Contribution to WAAPA Music Theatre.

In 2009, Gretel is will be performing the role of 'Sal' in the new Australian musical tour of "Breast Wishes."
