That was a clean shoulder check. I've seen almost that exact same hit a thousand times in different games. It is deeply unfortunate that Pacioretty caught the stanchion the way he did, but that's a rink design issue, not a checking-rules issue.

At the time the video was made, there was almost no market for the systems. We had stockpiled a few dozen at one point and cast around for a buyer, but the economics at the time meant they were worth more than twice as much as scrap than they were as working systems.
