I am a well educated Catholic Christian (many of us are, you know) & remember well what the Church teaches about idolotry & sin, also what worship is, & is not. Incredible! I never knew before the loss of mankind! My grandpa was in it onland, came out ok. We should be thankful that in other battles losses were not this high. However in the US Civil War casualities were very high in a few battles on land, & sea. Never again, we pray.
