I feel the same way about this song. It's heartbreaking, devastating and beautiful. In its own category of greatness. And when I think that they stuck it at the very end of the last record they made together for over two decades...what a swan song.

I gave up thinking which Dan album is the best, because there's so much good stuff on all their records. Royal Scam definitely has a preponderance of great ones. Gaucho really does it for me too. Pretzel Logic isn't one of my all-around favorites, and yet it has four of my favorite Dan so...

can't believe I'm saying this but I like Lana's voice and i like how the song sounds. it's a relief to hear a girl with a low, smooth, sexy voice who isn't screaming and trying to fit twelve notes into every word

i assume you read Paul Myers' book where Todd talks about how he records his vocal tracks - right on the spot, dubbing in the different harmonies as he goes along with no advance preparation. thinking about that while i listen to this, i'm in awe, in case i wasn't already

the England Dan John Ford Coley version was one of my favorite songs and i thought it was kind of an unusually written song - years later i became a Todd fan and discovered he wrote it, and then it all made sense. Todd's version is way better, i don't bother with the other one anymore

the person you all are missing here is the fiddle player Andrea Zonn - check out her album Love Goes On. that lady can really play and sing. she should be a big star, don't know why she's not
