The band started as Thank You to God for healing post headinjury car accident. The band started with 1 steel pan & 2 vocals.
We performed top gospel hits, our original music and themed songs at a restaurant called The New Detroiter for 4/12 years. We wrote songs for Jesse Jackson coming to town, 1993 Auto Show theme song. The Detroit Library "Literacy" song, A song written for The Salvation Army banquet in 2009 and currently working on a intro and exit sound track for a new movie.
With the experience of working with Roy Brooks, Max Roach, Marcus Belgrave, Vaughn Klugh, Wayne State Univ.
and Tito Puente, Chaz was able to do creative Afro centric movements and create entire separate shows which are used in churches school assemblies, corporate and now health venues.
Loretta is 1 of the Mc Leod Gospel singers and she has written much in health, sacred and fun & peace music giving
The Gratitude Steel Band a very undeniable and unique sound.
Today their children sing and perform in the steel band.
They travel while home schooled help with arranging writing and costumes. They also leading songs and helping in background vocals to give a warm and
fuller sound.
the Band performs and sings with guitar, live drums, mid eastern tablas and sometimes keyboard. It has performed with horn section accompaniment, banjo, concertina, bag pipes, and violin.
Styles being of course reggae and calypso 1st, they are not limited
due to the performers musical backgrounds which are: Gospel,
Jazz, Pop, Classical and more!
