Kayenne is a revolutionary new family of production switchers from Grass Valley, designed for a worldwide market. Kayenne carries forward all of the most powerful Kalypso™ and Kayak HD features, with many innovations that maintain Grass Valley's legacy of leadership in switcher design. The switcher frame and panels have been designed to help technical directors be efficient, creative and always in control.

All Kayenne frames include a half-M/E and scale from 1.5 to 2.5 M/Es in compact (4 RU) frames and from 2.5 to 4.5 M/Es in standard (8 RU) frames. The frame has up to 96 inputs and 48 outputs. Each M/E has six keyers. For example, a 4.5 M/E system has up to 30 keyers and 20 DPM channels.

This modularity provides multiple panel configuration options. The control panels are ergonomically designed and can be mounted flat or in a banked curve. Each source select and aux bus module has two rows of OLED Source Name Displays that provide ultra-clear text and extremely wide viewing angles. Transition Modules have Enhanced Status Displays using easy to read LEDs.

The Kayenne switcher features a Device Control Module (DCM) that supports full-motion control (including jog wheel) for up to 32 devices such as DDRs/VTRs. Another feature unique to the Kayenne system is Q-MEM, a library of device cues independent of E-MEM, which operate in conjunction with the DCM and the up to six Device Control Windows on the system bar. The new Kayenne menu system leads the industry with a simplified navigation so that no menu is more than two levels down.

Kayenne modules can be removed and replaced quickly without impacting on-air production.
