wow my mom and her family use to stick their toungs out in jaskon to get the coal trains to throw coal at them For heat> great grand pa and grandpa both worked in the mines in that area grandpa died a few years back from black lung . you have brought back both good and bad memories !! THANK YOU!!

Emily, you have a strong & noble heart; sadly a lot of children in the 1920's & 1930's did it very hard but I think it also made them better people! Sorry about your grandmother, she was too young; she sounds like she was a good teacher as well. All the best from down-under.

I lived in Tennessee for about 7 years and I also spent 4 years in Kentucky and a year in Alabama, thanks for talking honesty concerning the area and I hope you can get on Youtube to actually help me with a report I have do so that is why I am talking to you like this. Again... everyone says it differently and that's not the point of these videos or our story! My entire family is Appalachian and I have many friends from the region, everyone says it like I do... just as a source, check out merriam-webster dictionary online and see how they pronounce it....
