Inspired by legendary Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt Newfoundlander Duane Andrews performs a
melange of jazz and folk music. A virtuoso guitarist, Duane melds traditional Newfoundland folk music
with its mix of French, Irish, Portuguese and English influences with Manouche (Gypsy folk) in the same
way that Django Reinhardt infused Jazz with Gypsy melody.
Duane and his band have been taking their dynamic repertoire of Reinhardt's classic compositions, Jazz standards
from the store of the great Duke Ellington, Irish reels, Portuguese waltzes, oh and some award winning
original compositions, to all corners of North America.
Named Instrumental Artist of the Year at Canada's 2006 East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) and Emerging
Artist of the Year by the 2006 Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council, Duane Andrews' self-titled
debut CD also earned him the 2005 ECMA for Jazz Recording of the Year.
Dedicated jazz guitar fans and newcomers to this music genre will marvel at the musicianship. The
wonderful guitar lines, cheeky trumpet and groove of the bass will make you want to listen all day.
