I suspect Mantovani re recorded many of his most popular tunes in stereo when that technology came into vogue in 1958. This version of Swedish Rhapsody is noticeably different from the stereo versions currently posted on you tube and probably dates back to when the song was first heard in 1952-5...

That'sJerry Allison, the Crickets drummer, slapping his hands on his legs in time to the music. I could be wrong, but I think Buddy's producer Norman Petty is playing celeste on this song. It's one of my faves and a lasting tribute to a great performer.

How wonderful to hear this song after 4o years! I seem to remember trying to find the 45 when the tune was current-with no success. Thanks for making my day,

I've never heard this in stereo before. It sounds just great. Is it true that the legendary Joe Meek had a hand in this record?

Four Lads - The Girl On Page 44 - 1958
This song was released by The Four Lads in 1958 and nicely shows off their ability to harmonize.

This record was very hard to find for many years, despite hitting the top 50 on the billboard charts. Other than the original 45,its only other appearance was on a short lived Columbia various artists compilation lp in 1960.I've always liked this song, and its flip *Sunday", both arranged and con...

Another great record from Johnny Horton. This tune was actually recorded in the summer of 1958. The stereo version on Horton's best of cd sounds slower than this 45 version. Doesn't really matter; it's still a great song.

This is the first version (of many) that Belafonte recorded of this song. It dates back to late 1953. I like it better than the version from 1956, which seems tamer and less expressive. This 1953 version, as another poster mentioned, was collected in the" 60 years of music america loves best " an...
