About this user

Gottfried Brux began his musical journey at an age of 8. In around 1980, his parents thought it would be good for him to learn organ. After a couple of years of studying organ he soon learned that this was not for him and at that time his cousin had an old Framus electric guitar, which he borrowed for a while to explore the world of rock. Gottfried was now 13 years old and he designed a cable to connect the guitar to his organ's headphone jack

To make a long story short, with songs such as "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and Santana's classic "Samba Pa Ti" his appetite for rock guitar grew exponentially. By the age of 15, Gottfried had been studying his main influences such as Santana, Neal Schon from Journey, Kee Marcello & John Norum from the Swedish Rock band "Europe".

In 1990, Gottfried formed with his twin brother Ernesto the hardrock band "Kristal Heart" and played in the El Paso, TX area.

In 1994, Gottfried saw Steve Perry live in El Paso, TX during his "For Love of Strange Medicine Tour." This tour and album featured a young guitar player Lincoln Brewster. His guitar playing captivated "G" and over the next 15+ years Gottfried studied Lincoln's playing, as well as studied with Berklee Professors privately such as tapping phenomenon Don Lappin and Tomo Fujita, who taught Pop/Rock icon John Mayer.

In 2003, Gottfried joined the Boston based Pop/Rock band Junipers Daughter and played most clubs in the Boston area as well as New York City.

After the birth of Gottfrieds son in 2005, he decided to take a little break from Junipers Daughter to focus on his family as well as music production. This time was very important to reflect where he was in his life and what he wanted to do with music.

At that time a good friend, Chad Cunningham, former drummer for Junipers Daughter, called up Gottfried to invite him to see LIFT, which is a monthly worship gathering in the metropolitan Boston area.

LIFT (http://www.liftedhigher.com/index.html) uses modern elements such as professional lighting and sound, video screens displaying worship imagery and song lyrics, creative environments and the latest in contemporary praise and worship music performed by the Jon Niven Band (http://www.jonniven.com/) to enhance the worship experience.

Gottfried was blown away why the musicianship, the mission of LIFT, and being a Catholic himself he felt at home. Gottfried was asked by Jon Niven to join his band as the lead-guitar player and over the past 1.5 years Jon Niven has been gaining a lot of momentum in the New England area as well as getting some national recognition and sharing the stage with good friend Matt Maher, Josh Blakesley and play in-front of thousands of kids and spread the word of god through praise and worship.
