I think the ped is at fault here, but mate you are a bit slow on the airzound. Also I think you're going quite a bit faster than 7mph. The simple truth is that when cycling you cannot rely on others to do the right thing. To do so will consign you to quite a few encounters with the tarmac.

@daven58100 The lyrics are not that strange at all. It is the story of a Dakar-type car rally that the protagonist of the song participated in (losing a wheel), and Mad Jack won. Ginger Baker's rather odd narrative towards the end is reminiscent of his similar work with Cream.

This film was made in 1946, and depicted a time some years earlier. You just cannot take things from 65 years ago and apply today's standards to them. It doesn't work. Who knows what practices regarded as reasonable today will be considered offensive toward the end of the 21st century?

Tom Verlaine was extremely limited as a singer. All he could do was the tortured sounding vocal you hear here (and on Marquee Moon) even though he did try to lighten up on this first solo album. @Texaschichere To be honest I don't really think John Fogerty was in the very top league of guitarists of the time like Hendrix, Page, Santana, and thus the guitar here is perhaps slightly inferior to the best works of those artists (IMHO of course). Where Fogerty was without peer was in his song...

A very shonky remake. Sounds like they've used the original instrumental track and added inferior vocals. Brave but futile attempt to reconstruct the dub section at the end.

An incredibly strong and catchy pop song. She sings it quite nicely, the band are not fit to tie XTC's shoelaces though.

This song was not a chart hit in Australia because, quite ironically, EMI and other record labels were in dispute with radio stations over royalties (record companies wanted radio to pay to play their songs....not surprisingly this position did not last long. A slightly different mix of the song ...

Ian Anderson would have been no more than 21 or 22 when this was recorded. In some of this footage he looks much much older.

There seems little doubt that the ten track format of the WarChild LP was an attempt by Anderson to return to critical acceptance, which was duly achieved, but unfortunately the record wasn't really one of their best. While Minstrel in the Gallery was an improvement, the title song a Tull classic...

I have this record on vinyl, from 1974. It kinda bombed at the time, really. Radio didn't support it, like so many excellent Aussie recordings.

Interesting that the same singer wrote and recorded "My God". It may cast a slightly different light on the intent of that song.
