There's also double basses playing but on every Bach (and indeed Vivaldi) score I've seen only a Cello part is written in. Do the double basses just play the cello part but an octave lower?

You should really try something easier, I don't like to bash but most people have been correct so far, it's fairly terrible. Perhaps you should try some Bach preludes to help with your dexterity then work your way up to pieces like this.
