Actually "fuck" is from an old Scandinavian word "fokka/fukka" meaning copulate or beat. English contains loads of Norse loanwords from the Vikings, which you can see in other languages; the Germans say "ficken" even today.

I have to agree with @plucas1 here. It's more than just a metaphor for teenage angst. It's about the contrast between the otherworldly creature (whatever the hell that was) and the futility of human existence (which doesnt go much further than trying to fuck each other).
