One of my favorite works of art
and a favorite quote i recently used in some artwork:
"To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing." - Elbert Hubbard
To avoid not so peaceful coexistence mull over this tidbit of wisdom from THE AVATAR JOURNAL:
"When one persons belief of what better is conflicts with others beliefs of what better is; Better becomes so burdened with limitations that the only spark of intention that filters through is the urge to survive."
To avoid boring lack of conflict with people:
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
- Friedrich Nietzsche
After this Nietzsche quote its a good time for another book plug that relates directly to this quote:
ESCAPE FROM FREEDOM by Erich Fromm
- no COMMENT PENDING APPROVAL here, and i don't delete comments (i blocked someone who posted detailed pedophile rape comments, and someone who was talking about killing and raping someone's mom, again in graphic detail...) so i like to escape from other's vile freedom from time to time...
and how far should that escape go? Here is a C.S. Lewis quote to ponder:
"To love at all is to become vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully around hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket—safe, dark, motionless, airless—it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable."
- C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves
I don't see how living like a hermit can be so selfish; it can't be as rewarding as the nuclear family, having plenty of friends, a white picket fence and golden retriever in upper crust suburbia can it? And maybe selfishness for oneself is best?:
"You may search the universe for someone more worthy of your love and affection than you are yourself, but such a person does not exist."
-Buddhist Proverb

Sadly however, this war was never fought on oil, we just handed power over to the new Iraqi government on all major cities and we will be leaving in 2011, we are in there for the good of the people.
I asked him if he had killed any Americans, he smiled and laughed, and then said to me "Hopefully after my little incarceration I can add you to that list."
He walked away, and two hours later he was out back on the streets, this war is to political, before he got off though I took a picture of him and showed some of my squad mates and some army battalion, I am happy to say I got that picture mailed to me only a month ago with an X over it.
It's all related to that "Laffter Curve" about diminishing returns from raising taxes at a certain level. It's quite complicated and finding the proper balance of taxation and incentives is difficult.
Personally I don't like supply-side economics(aka trickle-down economics or Reaganomics) because it artificially lowers taxes on the wealthy supposedly to attract more investment, domestic and foreign to the USA. But the problem is that if every country plays that game and lowers taxes on corporations and on the wealthy...the net result is just everyone having deficits and a wide income disparity gap.
