Darryl has always been interested in playing, creating, teaching and recording music.

On achieving his Diploma in Music Education at the NSW Conservatorium of Music he spent seven years teaching classroom music in Australian secondary schools. Darryl is still in contact with many of his students, some of whom have gone onto "big things". Steve Mostyn from his class of 1985 is the bass player for Grammy award winner Alicia Keyes in the USA.

Darryl has written two successful musicals - The Outsiders (based on S.E.Hinton's famous youth novel) and his new show ALISON which has had recent productions around the world in the USA, UK, New Zealand and Australia.

Darryl has many private piano students each week in his Sydney studio. Over the years he developed a "watch and play" teaching style for students that had problems reading traditional music notation. By simply watching the teacher hands play a piece, students would find it easy to imitate and enjoy performing straight away without written music.
