My favorite underdog movie actually came out in 1992 and was based on true events. It's a musical called Newsies. It didn't do so well in the box office and I don't understand why. Not very many people know about it either but I love it so much.

I liked the show originally but then the usual high school drama stuff reared its ugly head and I lost some of my interest in it. Some of the music is really good but I wasn't impressed by some of its themed episodes such as rocky horror picture show. I catch episodes here and there now.
