Check out 'In Ghost Colours' by Cut Copy, guys. You'll be wanting to here that more than 4 times I think.
N.B. I haven't heard Zonoscope but In Ghost Colors had the same tendencies you describe but is a more even record perhaps. Zonoscope won and ARIA, probably not too bad a listen.

Rich, soaring, inspirational sound, better than I even remembered it. Rock on. Little bit tinny too at times (compare Promised You a Miracle), but fab musical ideas. I still think there is lots of good music today, but very dispersed and fragmented compared to the '80's.
