Brad Theissen launched GAZE-TV, the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota) Gay, Lesbian cable TV show in October, 1986.

At the time, Brad was the head DJ at the Gay 90s in Minneapolis, and publisher of Twin Cities GAZE Magazine. This provided him access to A/V equipment, including a VHS camera and two editing machines, as well as a wealth of news and information to broadcast.

From 1986-1995, and again 2002-2004, Brad produced this bi-weekly TV show with innovative information sources, including TV PSAs which quite frankly were not given air time on regular TV stations.

Brad was able to contact and secure HIV/AIDS TV Public Service Announcements from AIDS Project Los Angeles, San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Gay Men Fighting AIDS (UK), AMFAR, as well as the National Ad Council and independent filmmakers who brought clever and avant guard visuals to portray the message of being safe.

(Much of the biographical information regarding most of these TV PSAs have been lost over time. E-mail or Comments are encouraged from those involved in making these PSAs, in order to recapture some of that history.)

This collection of TV PSAs is being updated during the months of July/August 2008. It is expected to take all of that time to add all of the PSAs in Brad's collection, so stop back again to see more!

Brad has been recognized as a pre-eminent HIV/AIDS educator because of his TV and newspaper work, as well as an advocate of GLBT civil rights, and anti-violence against gays, in particular in the late 1980s as some segments of society turned their anger about AIDS towards gay men.

From October 1986 to June 1992, the show was known as GAZE-TV. The April 1992 coverage of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt received top honors at that year's Minnesota Community Cable Awards.

From January 1993 to May 1995, the show was known as Green And Yellow TV, co-hosted with Mr. Kitty.

From May 2002 to March 2004, the show was known as GLBT-TV.

The show aired on public access cable channels in Minneapolis, St. Paul and suburbs.

The website www.GLBT.tv was launched in 2003.

The entire catalog of TV show episodes Brad produced, GAZE-TV, Green And Yellow TV, and GLBT-TV, as well as many hundreds of VHS tapes of live coverage of GLBT events in the Twin Cities, and other areas in Minnesota, are archived at the Tretter Collection, GLBT Archive, Anderson Library, at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis campus.

Twin Cities GAZE Magazine, and Twin Cities GAZE Newspaper are also archived at The Tretter Collection GLBT Archive.
