About this user
The band was formed in 2003, initially as as singer/songwriterduo Waldy van Geenen and national radio 3FM dj Rudy Mackay - both from the Netherlands. They made some poor My-First-Sony-quality recordings, but got good reviews and reactions anyway. Which made them start thinking about expanding the musical possibilities, and found some blokes that said they were 'really really good. No really. Ask my mum.' and ta-daah, GLADIUS was formed.
2005: GLADIUS recorded an EP, simply called Gladius, with four songs on it. It sold out. They played on several stages in The Netherlands during this year, including The Sugarfactory and several radiostations.
2006: Drummer Hein Tool decided to quit the band. Guido van Swieten signed for his replacement. GLADIUS played on several small stages and radiostations.
2007: With new drummer Guido, a period of intensive training and writing of new songs started. In september the band recorded a new EP at the Starsound studio's, called Welcome the Sun. This EP was released in November.
