Love that instrumental break between the two songs. Intense!!

You might remember "Disco Duck" was topping the charts about the same time this song was a hit. I think "Muskrat Love" followed soon after.

There was some real garbage being bought back in 76 just like there is today, but I'll take that era over today's on overall quality.

I can't decide which is worse, Dylan's lead vocals or the backup vocals. Both are embarassing.

And, yes, I do love Dylan's work. But if you can't sing any longer, save it for the shower.

This CD is great from start to finish. Do yourselves a favor and buy it. I did 33 years ago.

Too bad Bruce didn't use live vocals on the recording. The rawness of his voice adds to the song's emotion.

Singing is live, but the music is on tape. The single has multitracked singing which this version does not. The music has an acoustic guitar on it if you listen closely which nobody is playing. They also sing Day After Day on the show which has an invisible piano playing.

@bitchslap666, the first album is a classic. The second one is not quite as strong but good. Then Honeyman-Scott died and they were never quite the same, but the 3rd album (the one with Back in the Chain Gang and Middle of the Road) is really good too.

What a combination of tension, lyrics, and singing. Add in a world class set of guitar solos by Brinsley, and you have a classic.

This is the song that got me into Graham Parker. I saw them play it on Soundstage, a PBS program from Chicago back in 1977.

Enjoy the song and the guitar work. Just wish he hadn't screamed the chorus at the end.
