עמותת גירגורים היא ארגון ללא מטרות רווח שפעילותו מוקדשת לסיוע לחתולים ולאוהבי חתולים בישראל. מרבית מאמצינו מופנים להפעלת הבית של גירגורים, מקלט לחתולים בו חיים מאות חתולים שהוצלו ממצבי מצוקה ולכלבים בעלי צרכים מיוחדים. המקלט אינו ממית, חופשי מכלובים ומהווה בית לכל החיים עבור החתולים והכלבים שלא יאומצו. אנו מעניקים לחתולים ולכלבים החיים בבית של גירגורים טיפול מסור לזמן ארוך ככל הנדרש, והם בתמורה מחזירים הרבה אהבה, חום וכמובן...גירגורים.

Hundreds of cats, whose lives were in danger, now live in the Girgurim cat home, a Loving Refuge for Cats, situated between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Cats of all colors and sizes live together at Girgurim, which is Hebrew for purring. When you go inside, some of the cats will immediately come running to you to be stroked, while those that are more fearful of strangers will keep their distance, looking with curiosity at the new visitor.
A voluntary non-profit association, and it has set up the largest cat refuge in Israel. Not only does it save the cats lives, but it is a loving home where they receive proper care. Its a permanent domicile for sick, abandoned or distressed cats, whose chances of being adopted are poor, if existing at all. Girgurim is these cats last chance to live. Girgurims philosophy is that as long as cats with special needs can be treated and given a suitable quality of life, they should not be destroyed. Girgurims members believe that the most moral and correct way to act is to take care of distressed cats and give them lifelong treatment, even if they have no chance of being adopted. Its both immoral and unwarranted to destroy cats, and its definitely neither necessary nor essential , the manager of the refuge. Our giving treatment and a lifetime home for these cats is what makes us different from most of the other animal and cat associations.
Girgurim is meticulous about giving the cats proper living conditions: veterinary supervision, medical treatments and everything they need in order to feel at home: food, water as well as places for sleeping, playing, pampering, stroking and purring and, of course, the option of being near people or of keeping away from them (whichever the kitty wishes), and lots and lots of love.
