Gionni Crawford is not your average high school student. You won't just see him on the school announcements or the annual school talent shows, but also creating change within Detroit communities. As a Detroit native, Gionni feels that is important to remember where you've came from. Gionni is setting an example for youth in his community. Gionni participates in many community plays and student films. Gionni studied at Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit in the acting ensemble company. While Gionni is not acting, dancing, or singing: he works as a freelance writer and reporter for many youth-led organizations. Gionni constantly maintains blogs, videos, and discussion boards and young people always have questions and/ or suggestions for improving the community in which they reside.

Gionni got his first acting role in a elementary school musical, which eventually expanded his love for the theatre and performance. Gionni continued participating in plays throughout middle school by gaining leading or supporting roles. During his freshman year in high school, Gionni was cast as a supporting role in student film called "Bennetta Wigs" directed by Kimberly Rice. Soon after, he was casting into a leading role in a children's TV pilot sitcom entitled "Rap KATZ" which was a troupe of rapping & dancing "katz" that cautioned young people of the dangers they might encounter by explaining it to them in a cool, hip-hop way. Soon after, Gionni signed with his local talent agency.

Gionni can also be seen in multiple reports as an news anchor for the Youth Neighborhood News program, currently aired on Detroit Public Television, Channel 10, and the web. Gionni can be seen as a guest host on the #1 Source of all things film, Michigan Film News. Videos are posted on Facebook. Gionni enjoys dancing and singing and has actually choreographed dances and taught his own dance classes. He began taking ballet lessons freshman year of high school, but has been hip-hop dancing since he could walk. Gionni's father inspired him to dance, considering his father is a D.J. and used to do a little break-dancing in his younger days. Gionni plans on going to college to study Broadcast Journalism in hopes of becoming a TV host for entertainment news. Gionni will also be training at prestigious University of Michigan for Theatre & Drama MPulse Summer Performing Arts Camp this summer.

Gionni was also featured as a guest blogger for the TIME Magazine Blog Detroit in 2010 in which he wrote about his experience in the rising Michigan Film Industry.

Gionni has interviewed people such as actor/comedian Dave Couiler (aka Joey from Full House), award winning author-journalist-broadcaster: Mitch Albom, Detroit City Council President: Charles Pugh, Wayne County Exec.: Robert Ficano, L Brooks Patterson, Benny Napoleon & so many more people in the political & entertainment industries.

Gionni is actively involved in community affairs. As a Detroit native, he strives to get the word about Detroit's accomplishments and suggests solutions for Detroit's issues. Gionni has reported at the Detroit Regional Chamber Mackinac Policy Conference as the youngest reporter! He is also a member of YOUTH JOURNALISM INTERNATIONAL and YOUTHVILLE DETROIT.

Gionni has also volunteered his time by participating in Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit's annual: Perform-A-Thon, which is an opportunity for young artists to perform for people who generally are unable to travel to theatres and showcases. Gionni is also striving to take on a leadership role in his community by providing a youthful voice in situations where adults make decisions and determine solutions to situations, in which don't include the youth. Gionni hopes to be getting in the recording studio soon to begin making some demo tracks in hopes of living his dream as a recording artist.

Gionni's major influences include: Mario Lopez, Justin Bieber, Barack Obama, Tyler Perry, Ice Cube, Kyle Massey, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Usher, Keke Palmer, Diggy Simmons and so many more.
