Messier never made the Gm 6 "We Will Win" prediction against the Devils IN1994! It was a publicity stunt set up by the New York Post and Messier's public relations rep. It was done to hype up hockey in N.Y. and Messier reluctantly gave the ok. That's why you'll never find video of Messier saying it and he's embarassed to talk about it because he never said it. The newspaper went out 20 hours before Gm 6 and there was not one single interview with Mess during this time. The media was told to stay away from him till after the game. If the Rangers lost he would've gave his backup plan interview. He was told to say "I never predicted anything in my life. I was misquoted by a member of the media. I did say we can win". He still to this day will not admit to saying it and changes the subject when a commentator brings it up. He still seems to be embarrased by it. It's been a big secret in the N.Y. Post but many people know about it. Did you know that from the 1920's till 1970 the Rangers would have to play their home playoff games on the road if the circus was in town. New Yorkers were more excited to watch monkies, clowns and elephants than the Rangers!
