The change in the content of work in advanced industrialized economies to knowledge work requires the engagement and discretionary effort of employees at all levels. The changing "social compact" or contract between employers and employees has left employees disengaged and dissatisfied. There is a clear disconnect between the need for (and talk about) employee engagement and what companies are actually doing. There are also discontinuities between what the new workforce wants—interesting work and freedom to use their intellectual gifts and skills—and the increasing computer surveillance and monitoring and ever-growing centralization of decision-making authority in many companies. It is possible to build competitive economies and competitive companies—and it is possible to double sales and triple profits even in a commodity business (paper products) as Kimberly-Clark Andean region did between 20024 and 2008—but doing so requires a fundamental shift in the mind set of most corporate leaders.

Future of Euro Zone After the Debt Crisis
As European fiscal crisis unfolds and the Euro substantially weakens, voices of concern are raised about how this may dampen what seemed like a relatively smooth economic recovery. An initial observation of the financial markets and real economic conditions around the world shows some signs, though moderate to date, that the European crisis may be spreading to the rest of the world. The lack of political leadership, delayed action on failing banks, default risks in the Eurozone are all part of the European risks, which must not be underestimated. In this session, the current European debt crisis will be examined to determine the likelihood of a global economic downturn and double dip and how effectively we may deal with these possibilities.

"Adventures are necessary in education, too"...creative methods of cultivating talents to be searched In this year's Global HR Forum, places for intensively investigating the recent streams of world education and drafting the blueprint of future education will also be prepared. This is a result of shared perception, i.e., education is the most important factor in securing the future competitiveness of individuals as well as the country amid the global financial crisis and given the trend of slowdown of world economic growth.
