Once upon a time there was a girl called Ruth, and she liked to procrastinate. Instead of writing her essays, or doing her laundry, or visiting the shops to buy food with real ingredients, she spent all of her time making cups of tea, and watching hour after hour of News24. Then, one momentous day, she discovered a wonderful place known as YOUTUBE. After months of watching Charlie biting fingers, and hamsters playing pianos, she stumbled upon the glorious people known as the VLOGBROTHERS, and found that there was a whole community of like-minded, creative nerds out there, just on the other side of her computer screen. Her mind almost exploded with the awesomeness. She commented, rated and subscribed. In the summer of 2009, in an incident involving her youngest brother, a memory-destroying strategy game, and her apologetic parents, she found herself the proud owner of a new purple laptop, complete with built-in camera. Two days later, she had uploaded her first vlog, cleverly titled 'My first vlog'. The rest, as they say, is history.
These days, she likes to think that her videos are a bit less shaky, and a bit more edited. Sometimes she talks about her favourite books. Sometimes she pontificates about random things. Sometimes she picks up a wipeboard and markers, and tells a story.
