Airika is sure to dazzle a stage with music full of class that takes whimsical flight and leaves it's listeners with pure delight. Whether it's through raw vulnerability, or Cartoon-esque personas, Airika's unique musicality soars through whatever genre she puts her eclectic mind to .Her Soulful, spirited piano playing, brings intense, dynamic sensibility, leaving room to unveil her piercingly clear, resonant vocals . Honesty and compassion fuel her unguarded and vulnerable lyrics, with a deliverable message of faith as an uplifting instrumental literature of hope.
Growing up in a strict home, restricted and inhibited her mind but pushed her quest to search for a sense of musical belonging."I would wait for my mom to leave to the neighbor's house to watch Soul Train or Bollywood music videos. I watched late night infomercials for Music compilations of all different genres and stayed to watch ending movie credits to sneak in any kind of music outside of what I was allowed to listen to; I was a sponge and the fact that my parents didn't allow it, made me much more curious. Being homeschooled definitely led to interesting social skills, but I'd say it's gave me a chance to help me develop the traits that make me a total proud dweeb I am today ."
Airika chooses not to limit her musical stylings to one set type of music. She radiates truth in an imaginative way and is not afraid of an "out of the box" approach. She proudly displays the Marching Glockenspiel as an unconventional expression of poise, and a variety of quirky instruments that embellish the pizzazz and whit of this one of a kind artist. Her musical inspirations include Disney Soundtracks, Chaka Khan ,Peter Gabriel, Imogen heap, Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush, Earth Wind and Fire, Gene Wilder, Weird Al, and Judy Garland just to name a few.
Although Airika is new on the scene, she is quickly developing a loyal following while gaining opportunities such as songwriting/producing for Kaiser Permanente, Winning singer/songwriter contest at the 2010 Coachella Festival, performing at the famous "Hotel Café", as well as opening for Grammy award winning artist, Imogen Heap. Airika was featured on the KUSI Morning show for San Diego, and has for members of the original," Oingo Boingo". Be on the lookout for this charming, vivacious gal to warm your heart with a glimmer of hope and a sense of adventure in courageous proportions!
