About this user

I love to sing and was in the local church choir from the age of 8. My mother was a good amateur singer in her younger days entering and winning competitions etc. She was always singing around the house when I was a child and I picked up an ear for music and lots of songs this way. I liked all her wartime songs from the 30s and 40s. I took up guitar when I was 19 at university. Since then I have played as an amateur most of my life performing at local functions from time to time. I had never got very far in writing my own music. I played various covers of songs which I arranged for solo guitar. Two years ago I met local poet and lyricist Barry Gardner who heard me play at a function and asked if I would like to set some of his words to music. Now there was a challenge! The result of this venture is my first CD of 14 original songs called Memories And Dreams, released in 2011.
