The art in music died when MTV forgot about the MUSIC in Music TeleVision. Which is why people my age, 30+ and younger are still drawn to Hendrix, Zeppelin, Joplin, etc. etc. They're timeless. Everything we hear now is just a homogenized synthesized autotoned version of this raw element.

Even after 30 years of listening to this song off and on I am still blown away by the arrangement and especially the vocals. You can also hear his influence over the whole new wave of British Soul that's coming out now. The Brits get it. Strip it down and take it back to what it once was.
