Actually women ARE allowed to drive in the Middle East, it was never forbidden. Women in my family all drive.

The only country that does not allow women to drive is Saudi. About the incident, even Saudis themselves are condemning it, as the government clearly said it is not allowing it because the people themselves don't accept women driving. (Something to do with their traditions). So if her husband was okay with it, why would the government imprison her?
