I am a former pageant queen, who suffered with being hyper-critical about my looks, weight and size. At this point in my life, although older and fuller figured, I have finally learned to accept myself as-is, not always needing something more to feel happy and content.You can be fit and healthy even if you are not a super-model size. I am still an average REAL woman; just like most women I know, who are busy and juggle multiple responsibilities. I wrote the "Get REAL Guide to Health and Fitness" for myself and others like me. When you begin to ACCEPT that you are okay—even better than okay— just as you are, you will empower yourself to succeed at making any changes that you choose.
It is time for women to "Get REAL" and learn to love the skin they are in!
You are more than a size, shape or number on a scale. I have learned that you need to do healthy behaviors not to be thin, or for looks, but because you DESERVE it. I teach women to value their bodies, to exercise, and ADD healthy foods to their diet because it makes them feel better and live longer. If you happen to look good too, well that is just a bonus!
How we feel about ourselves is projected in how we carry ourselves. This affects how people treat us. I am more confident and happy now than I ever was in my 20s. I look my age, I have some curves, but I ENJOY my lifestyle most every day.
I speak as often as I can to groups of women and encourage and uplift them. Reminding them they are beautiful, valuable and worthy of taking care of what they have been given. That is enough and they are enough. This is a message more women need embrace.
It is time for women to love their bodies and love their lives!
