Instead of the police using their time and resources prosecuting the young girls for selling themselves, they need to focus their energy (and the world needs to focus its collective energy) on tackling the root of the problem (pimps, johns, smugglers, etc.) and help the girls, who are the victims here, to escape the vicious circle of this modern form of slavery. Jail is not going to help them, nor will it convince them they are worth more than the piece of meat they are to those johns and pimps. In Germany, we have issues with this, especially at the Reeperbahn.
