Myron, that guitarist w/Twitty looks as if it may be a young Al Bruno. However, I wonder if this might be a bit earlier than '64? I sat in with Twitty in Milwaukee in '64 and Al had left him by that time. I first met Al in Minneapolis in '62 when he was with Twitty and I eventually worked with Al...

Well, if you're in the greater L.A. area again, feel free to contact me. The Carole label, on which the MAC band appeared, was named for Mike Curb's sister. Our band, the Portraits, was on Curb's Sidewalk label (also had 2 releases on Tower, which distributed Sidewalk). I've issued a CD of our so...

Little Artie & the Pharaohs were actually from Milwaukee and had several releases on the Wisconsin's Cuca label. I've known them since 1964 and they are covered in my book, "Do You Hear That Beat - Wisconsin Pop/Rock in the 50's & 60's".

This bubbled under in BB in 1/62. Roberts was from Chicago but this label was in the Milwaukee area, so she is included in my book, "On That Wisconsin Beat". She had 4 releases and I have some background on her, but I've yet to find her, don't know if she's still around.

FWIW, I'm gradually learning bits about this artist. This song was on JaaDee, (as "E. Williams") an L.A., label; flip is "My Love Waits For You". I don't yet know the yr, but last yr. a 45 went for over $2200 (!). Williams had 2 sides on Coronado 112 (TX label) in 1964. In '66 he re-cut this s...

I had saved all the record info (incl writers' names, etc.) from any Tide 45's that I had, but the reason I asked about the "Poor Boy" writers is that, in our current conversations, Elanda Dent (of 3rd Pt) said she thought the song was a remake (possibly of Glen Campbell) so I wanted to check. I...
