GEKKO designs simple but effective messages for each target group while at the same time respecting the principles of information transparency.

GEKKO works with community groups in both rural and urban areas in issues such as how to improve information for health and sanitation services, the environment, education as well as economic and cultural enhancement.

Sharing Knowledge with the World

Curiosity is the intrinsic nature of humans. The modern-day advancement in technology is producing new technologies to create a better life and is making information accessible in many forms (printed or electronic media). However, much of the information accumulated so far is out of the reach of the people who need it. Information distortion and gaps in data delivery are two common problems due to the absence of media that can serve as a hub for delivering and transferring information and knowledge.

A Funded Project by the Department for International Development (DFID). Each of the 5 films examines the human stories behind illegal logging and deforestation in Indonesia. These films deal resolutely with how the villagers themselves are finding solutions. Travelling through Borneo, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java and Papua these programmes gain unique access to the people from the forest and examines close-up their battle at the front-line of deforestation.

For many the issues surrounding climate change, deforestation and illegal logging can seem inordinately complex; the human side - the personal stories - can often be forgotten. But occasionally these global problems can affect one tiny area; and suddenly, in a microcosm, all the devastation and horror take on a very real human face. The communities and villages featured in this serialisation have all found themselves thrust into such a position.
