I play video games. Eventually I want to make them too. We'll see though.

Mostly the types of games I like are puzzle games (I use puzzle lightly. Any game that requires me to think differently to succeed I count as a puzzle. Strategy games, for example).

Currently playing: mostly team fortress 2 and a bit of warcraft 3

In case it wasn't obvious, I'm also a big metroid fan.

For my videos, when I start a game of left 4 dead or team fortress 2, the first thing I do is use the console command "record servername_map_date", which asks the game to record the player information into a demo file. If you've never accessed the console, it's an option under keyboard and will say developer's console. You open it with either ` or ~ depending on your keyboard, and then you type in specific commands.

After the game, I use the command demoui which lets me play demos I record. As the demo is playing, I have a separate program record the demo into a .avi format, which I can edit and put on youtube.
For my l4d videos, I was really new and didn't know the best way to record (ended up doing it in x-fire).
For my tf2 vids, I was starting to figure out how it worked, and what I do now is use the console command "startmovie nameofmovie avi". I use an x-vid mpeg codec at a quantifier level of 1.25, and I set the resolution to -windowed 1280x720 since that is youtube's high quality format.
Then, after the re-recording (which can take around 3 times longer than the playtime) I can edit the video in windows movie maker by adding sound, removing the boring parts, and putting in titles and whatnot
