Gaylynn loves music for how it has brought harmony to her life. It has been her "good medicine" for making a life worth singing about. Her songs are sonic paintings of human experiences that provokes the listener to re-visit events in their own life. Gaylynn uses her voice as an impressionist painter uses color. The emotional timbre of her sound strikes a familiar chord creating an atmosphere that nurtures the releasing of dormant emotions. The song becomes "real". She connects straight to your heart. Her "good medicine" becomes your "good medicine".Gaylynn has the heart and soul of an artist. And as so, believes that liberty is the primary good in this world. The liberty to become an artist is just that and nothing more. It means creating and growing without the dictates of juries, grantors, and record companies or any non-artist authorities for that matter. It means exposing others to your art; let them hear it, see it, and feel who you are. She believes Picasso had it right when he explained that finish is the death of an artist's work because it means we are painting (or creating) an expectation or "to be like" and that puts the brakes on painting (or creating) to see and feel more deeply. Every beginning is a new prompt, a new point of departure. Begin everything. Finish nothing.
And so has been Gaylynn's journey as a music artist. Her primary goal is to be an inspiration for other artists to embrace their creativity and share it with the world; not as an exploited "by-product" packaged and sold like assembly line trinkets but as that of a liberated spirit. As she points out, so many great artists have experienced the "kiss of death" when this has happened to them (Édith Piaf , Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Whitley to name a few). Gaylynn believes beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are all artists in some form or another. Encourage the artist in someone and you will always foster love. So create and make the world a better place!
Gaylynn has been recognised by the AWA and TMA. Her accolades include two nominations for Female Vocalist of The Year and two nominations for Song of The Year. She has received awards from Billboard Magazine's World Song Contest, SESAC, Kerriville Folk Festival and Austin Songwriter's Group.
