Gary Laws was born in Syracuse, New York in 1946 where he lived until entering military service in 1963. After serving in the United States Air Force Gary worked in a variety of local government positions. In 1966 he met his wife Susan. They have been married 43 years and, together, raised five children. They now have 22 grandchildren.

Gary was ordained to the Christian ministry in 1980 from The Salvation Army College for Officers Training in Chicago, Illinois. With his wife, they have pastored five churches in the midwest and have held a variety of church administrative and ministry positions.

Garys' family history with The Salvation Army dates to 1884 when his great grandmother, Maud Ransom, was converted by early day Salvationists in London, England. The Ransoms attended The Salvation Army Regent Hall Corps where Garys' grandmother, also named Maud Ransom, met George Laws. Soon thereafter they married and immigrated to Canada and then the United States at the turn of the last century. Each generation since has served as Salvation Army clergy or laypersons.

Gary now lives in semi retirement with his wife in Kirkville, NY where he spends his days studying and writing Christian literature and Bible Study materials. He has been a frequent guest speaker at many evangelical churches
throughout the United States.
