The percussion guy with the whistle s Jamie Muir; he left early in the band''s incarnation. I saw them without him, but seeing this, wish I could have seen them with him. He's a maniac! I love him!

One of the keyboard players is playing Mike Rutheford's bass guitar part, if you look closely.

Wyatt used double bass drums most of the time he played

One of the few bands that emerged post punk that I really liked. They were Beefheart and Crimson-inlfuenced, so that may explain it. Plus Dave Thomas and Alan Ravenstine were over the top!

This was one of those albums I never heard all that much when it came out, but I like this. It sounds very much of its time.

I can still see Khalid Yasin's (Larry Young's) arm lifting into the air when he did those staccato chords; and it was up close to a foot off the keyboard! Williams' flailing! What a sight!

I saw this group live at Newport. They were amazing! Still nothing out there like it, like the man says!

I think Baker was always overrated by rockers, but underrated by jazz fans, They each have very distinctive styles and I don't think there is a winner here. The thing I love is looking at Baker's face when Blakey is playing...Baker is clearly digging Blakey's playing.

Although I love this song and this band, this one seemed a little limp and slow.

I loved the sound of the Baldwin amp. Very clean. Neil Young used an exterminator. I love transistor amps....they sound so clean and uncolored!

I had one of these; great keyboard, esp. the vibrato.

Coryell is amazing on this.

Listen to the drumming at around 1:50 to 2:20; terrific! And I loved this phase of McLaughlin as well. Young is always amazing. I saw this band in 1970 with Jack Bruce. What a performance!

I love MacCormick's bass work and that sound!

Lee Dorman is incredibly underrated; Eric Brann is Fripp and Belew before Fripp and Belew. Very underrated group!

The Ric is better on the higher melodic stuff (it has a thinner but more extroverted sound), but the Fender has more "authority" as a bass instrument (by the way I like both instruments--I prefer Precisions to jazz bass sounds). They are really quite close in tone, I think.
