Hi Slapnut892, I would suggest it best to ask your sensei his/her preference during a quiet moment. I would suggest it appropriate for most to refer to their sensei by name outside of the dojo, after all we live in a western culture, however this will depend upon your particular relationship with your sensei.

hi Garry ive got a question. im a year into my training now and i still haven't figured out when to not call my sensei; sensei. do you call him/her by there name outside of the dojo i hate to sound disrespectful outside of the dojo
