BIO:

I began playing drums at the age of 13, but my introduction to music began at a much earlier age. When I was 7, I started taking piano lessons and with that was ingrained with a firm understanding of musical theory. I spent 5 years studying the instrument, but a growing love of Rock and Metal music inspired me to switch my attention to the drums. This change coincided with my entrance into high school and the window of opportunity for practicing, playing, and performing drums was now wide open. I soon found myself playing in the marching band, jazz band, and my own metal band, Calgary (formed in 2002).

With Calgary I began playing around the Chicago area very often, both in live and studio settings. The band recorded many demos, played many shows in Illinois and beyond, but we decided in early 2010 to put it to rest. Currently I am working on a new project with some of the members called Without Waves that will take a new, experimental direction. It will give us a new chance to explore our love for all sorts of music, including metal, jazz, fusion, and electronic music. We are currently planning for a "live debut" in August or September of 2010.

In March of 2008, I was asked to fill in for another Chicago metal band; Kastasyde. The rehearsals and gigs went very well and I joined the band as a member in June of the same year. From there, we recorded a three song demo at Studio One in Racine, WI. 2009 began with a two week U.S. tour and many other shows around the U.S. Now, in 2010, we have just finished a new album (streaming on our page now!) and are planning many different things for the rest of the year and beyond.

Outside of my bands, I am always looking to expand myself as a drummer and musician. Metal has been my primary focus and passion, but it does not represent a limit to my abilities or interests. I love ALL styles of music and constanly look for ways to challenge myself and engage with other musicians. If you've got a project or idea, get in touch! Cheers!
