I'm using this as my one and only outlet for musical expression for the time being. My kids are simultaneously an inspiration, a venue, an excuse, a hindrance and a funnel for my performance. I used to make little time for music, but when I did, it was expansive and personal and productive. Now it's often about them: playing for them, playing what they want to hear, playing on their terms...
This gradually providing a new venue for me. I'm starting with covers, because it's easy to hide in them and not feel as hurt by the critiques.
Update! Aug. 15, 2009:
Good news: I finally figured out that the video *and* audio quality on my simple Canon Powershot A590 is way better than any webcam/condenser mic combo. So now I need to think about redoing some of the particularly bad recordings here.
