Rylan Gajek

Eighteen year old cellist Rylan Gajek Leonard began studying the cello at the age of six. He has performed as principal cellist with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the Bard Conservatory Orchestra, the University of Calgary Orchestra and several others. Rylan has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Sooke Philharmonic, the Victoria Chamber Orchestra, the Northwest Mahler Festival Orchestra and others. He is an avid chamber musician and recitalist, having performed in most Canadian provinces and several American states. Among various awards, Rylan is a 1st Prize winner in the Canadian Music Competition 2011 and the Alberta Provincial Music Festival. He has participated in many music programs including Morningside Music Bridge, the Domaine Forget International Music Festival, the Banff Centre Cello Festival and others. He currently lives in New York, where he is a double degree student at Bard College, studying cello with Peter Wiley and Sophie Shao.
