UPDATE (7-9-09): As zaquory recently pointed out to me, you must take into account Wood's skills when evaluating the Snitch mistake. Just because he's not a Seeker doesn't mean he doesn't have sharp eyes. He's Keeper and Captain of the Gryffindor team, and therefore he has to have extremely sharp eyes if he's going to tend to the goals and advise his team all at the same time. So this talk about Harry having sharper eyes doesn't have much merit. Wood has sharp eyes as well.
